John Bowlby

Hello Everyone!

Today I´m going to talk about one of the most important twentieth century psychologist: he is John Bowlby.

John Bowlby dedicated the most part of his life to work with orphan kids living in institutions after the Second World War. A high point of Bowlby’s career was the theory about the importance of relationship between a child and their mother in the human development.

He said that the children’s needs from the very first day the love of the mother, or at least one principal person who cares of it. Not only care about the basical needs, also he studied a lot about the love needs baby’s and the importance to the future as human beings, and healthy teenagers.

I think John Bowlby s ´theory is very important because he make a huge contribution to mental health child.

Also, after John Bowlby´s discovery’s came a lot of psychologists who made different investigations about John Bowlby´s  theory called “Attachment Theory”

I just hope I can have the opportunity to know more about this great child psychologist because I am very interest in than field.

Pets

A pet is very important in childhood development, especially in the future social interactions with others human beings, because they learned about care and love, that´s why a pet as a dog or a cat, or any other can be so significant in kid´s life.

The kids learn from their pets about new forms of communications, and also they find another type of love and company, that help them to express their feelings and their emotions in better way.

It´s very important to say that in Chile, the reality is very hard because there are so many dogs without home all over the streets. That shows that we don’t have any education related to take care animals. People who have a dog should be responsible owners, but in this country we are not able to take responsibility about that.

I don´t consider myself a pet lover, but when I was a child I had two or three animals pets. The first one was a little fish, the second one was a little chicken, but my favorite definitely was a beautiful small dog called Mia. She was my best friend about three and a half years, and she was very fun, smart and friendly. When I was 8 years old, she passed away, and I never had a pet again. It was very hard for me to say goodbye to my loyal friend.

Today I don´t have any pet, but maybe I would like to have one someday. I´ll think about it.

POST GRADUATE STUDIES

Even when you have not finish university, it´s a very important thing to start to think about your future, related to make different decisions about you want to do next.

Personally, I think that is a very fundamental part of being a good professional can make a postgraduate course, indeed it’s one good way to go deep in your knowledge.

It was always in my plans to go to another country -maybe Spain or England- when my studies in Chile will be complete and to take a Master´s degree on Psychology.

Also after getting my master's degree, I would like to go for a doctorate. I know that it is a very difficult choice, staying far away from your family and friends for a long time but definitely worth it.

In other hand, there´s another thing that I would like to do very much in the future, I would like to learn another language like French, maybe Italian, or even Portuguese, I think that it´s a very important part of your professional training, and makes you better in your field, because you can have the opportunity to work any place that you like, and learn about your career.

Finally, I would say that the funniest part would be- of course- to spend time doing other things like visiting the typical places, going to museums, learning about the new culture, trying new food, making new friends, shopping souvenirs and taking every tour.

My Future Job

Hi Everybody!

Today I'm going to talk about my future job. I´m not 100% sure but I´m considering to work as clinical psychologist. I don't know yet if I wanna work with teenagers or kids or maybe with growing up people, but I'm very sure that I want to help them in their mental suffering.

Also I’m playing with idea of travel all around the world working as psychologist specialized in post traumatic stress, related to natural disasters, terrorism or any act that caused mental group pain. In that field, is very interesting to see how human being works, because the personal suffering is very different from group suffering.

Related the place where i'm going working to, I have in mind to work in any organization that let me stay in contact with people, so any hospital, any school, private clinic can be good too.

Also I’m hoping to can see the side of psychiatry, working in the psychiatry clinic, because I think it's very important to have the opportunity to know the most dark place of mental illness, I'm pretty sure that it will be difficult, because I´m a very sensitive person, but the only way that we really can help is looking the pain directly.

I just hope to can have the opportunity to work in all the areas that I'm interesting to.

Los Supersónicos

Hello Everyone!!

Today I’m going to talk about “The Jetsons”, my favorite cartoon series when I was a kid. This t.v. serie show It was about a typical American family living in a very technological future. I used to like this cartoon because it was very funny  to see how the world would be in the future, because in  90´s we didn’t  have any of  we have now as smart phones, smart t.v., or any chance to can see another people in the other side of the planet, because the video call it was only a fiction. It was also amazing to watch how the people of that time imagined our present, how predictived they were related to our kind of life having technology in our pockets. Today is a very common thing to have about two thousand songs in a little box called iPod, or a movie in the movil, even our favorite t.v. series in our bags- thanks iPad-. Also, there are so many thing that never came come true as the flying cars,  The Jetsons used as transport a type of car that works in the sky, so no traffic for them, maybe we don’t have that kind of technology yet, but… who knows in the future, I´m pretty sure that nobody believed in virtual communication in the time of “the Jetsons”.

Phillip Island

About 6 years ago, I lived one of the most wonderful holidays in my whole life. If I had to say where is the paradise on earth I definitely would say the amazing beach of Phillip Island, in Melbourne, Victoria.

It was summer on the fantastic big island of Australia, and the weather was beautiful, a gift. I went to Phillip Island with my twin cousins, my aunt and my uncle, because I stayed in their home when I was there (an entire year) so it was the perfect time for family holiday.

We stayed about one and a half week, in a beautiful two-storey house, with a big kitchen and a nice backyard, and also the balcony… I’ll never forget the perfect balcony with a fantastic view over the sea.

We had very long walks around the small and pretty streets, buying souvenirs, visiting the typical places and of course! trying the typical food. Also my cousin (the girl one) and I, spent many hours on the beach relaxing, reading, listening to good music, and mostly talking and laughing about everything. Those were very funny afternoons!

The time with my family, the quiet and perfect place, and all the beautiful moments that I lived those days made this holiday so special and I´ll never forget it. I really hope to comeback some day!

Rememering my childhood

I think of in my childhood very often. I’m very sure that it was one of the most fantastic times in my all life.  When I was a kid I always thought that it wasn´t fair because I was an only child, and my all friends had brothers and sisters to play with. But, I have to say that I have so many wonderful cousins, so they have all been my brothers and sisters until these days.

If I had to choose one memory of my childhood, I would say family parties in my grandmother´s house. The birthday’s celebrations, Christmas Eve or lunch every Sunday was an especial day for everyone. But the most important thing was the never-ending afternoons with all kinds of games and so many laughs.

My cousins and I used to hide from our parents in the most unbelievable places, making everybody crazy, and sometimes very angry too, but that didn´t matter because it was so funny seeing their angry adult faces.

I definitely have very beautiful memories of my childhood.

We´ll always have Paris

Traveling is the best thing in the world. I´m a very lucky person, because I have been to so many beautiful places like Melbourne, Australia but I have always wanted to visit France, especially the romantic city of Paris.

In this country I would like to visit the Eiffel Tower, The Champs Elysees the Moulin Rouge and all the beautiful places that I have always seen in the movies.

I have heard that Paris is an amazing city, the streets are illuminated, plenty of museums, cafes,    bookshops and shoes stores. One of my friends told me that Paris is full of art everywhere and it’s always an incredible experience to go there.

If I had the chance I would definitely go to Paris, and I would stay there at least a year or two, because I would to learn about the French culture like very much, and also about the French architecture, the language, and also learn about art and fashion  -and of course- try some French bread and French wine!

If I would have to choose a place to live in, I definitely would say Paris.
